Don’t #BlackOut the Facts…

The unjust death of George Floyd as many now know, has sparked intense protests and many violent riots. Sadly, while the nation has come together to collectively condemn the officer who abused his power and is now charged with murder, many have taken the opportunity to exploit this injustice by using it as an excuse to create mayhem and loot  even black businesses! For those who support the more violent rioting, what does taking a flat screen TV out of Target or an expensive purse have to do with honoring George Floyd? What does destroying whole communities including black ones do for the black community? And not to mention the double standard as usual for the Left, why does one black life matter but not another, such as the murder of retired officer David Dorn whose killing was live streamed as he lay dying on a sidewalk. Has anyone in the midst of their call for the blood of police ever think about all the black officers who are putting their lives on the line for our protection? We can all come together to demand accountability for the death of George Floyd and others, but to exploit tragedies by rioting, calling for violence and death against police officers, and cherry picking whose life matters enough to talk about only hurts the cause. What is supposed to be about unity, accountability and basic rights for all has been made into yet another partisan agenda.

However, moments like these also give opportunities for a discussion on important topics like race. Believe it or not, there is one aspect of the protests that I was inspired by: Not in that I personally agreed with the content of what they were saying, but I’ve noticed some on social media are using a “blackout” protest to not simply put up a black square in their social media profiles, but give resources to learn more deeply about the issues (as they see them, of course) and highlight black voices (from their side exclusively). While I don’t agree with the messages they’re spreading through who and what they cite as learning tools, I thought why not do a conservative version of their far left leaning one? They want to highlight black far left voices? Why not highlight black conservative voices too? They want to spread more incendiary articles on how whites are the supreme oppressors? Why not highlight resources that debunk many of the Left’s myths on race and society? So I present to you my own list of things to educate yourself on in the midst of this chaos:

  2. I certainly don’t like that this man was Murdered by a cop. He most certainly didn’t deserve that. But how dare Nancy Pelosi give an folded American flag in honor of him, a convicted felon, George Floyd who never served a day in the military except for several prison sentences for drugs and a home invasion of which he held a gun to the stomach of a pregnant woman in front of her small child and ransack her house looking for money and drugs. This criminal they put up to sainthood and make a martyr of him. How dare Nancy Pelosi give an American flag in his honor. Talk about a slap in the face of every man or woman whoever served their country while in uniform serving our flag and our country. But then again they gave this criminal a funeral fit only for a king.. Including a golden casket and a white horse drawn hearse being pulled by 2 white horses. And he got an all day national coverage by all the major TV networks But the funeral of a 40 year veteran cop David Dorn who was killed by black looters got hardly no coverage at all. What a national disgusting disgrace! A 40 year veteran cop.. hardly any recognition. But a career criminal gets honors and recognition, lifted up to sainthood and martyrdom, All day major TV coverage, a golden casket, a 2 white horse drawn hearse and a folded flag by Nancy Pelosi. Shame on Nancy Pelosi…. Disgraceful!!!

  3. Let me tell you My position on Donald Trump:
Make no mistake…I’m not posting this for debate. I don’t seek or need commentary. It’s ok if you don’t agree because we are all entitled to opinions.

Just consider this…when you think the President is a jerk; he is.

He’s a New Yorker. He’s crude and can be rude. He gets his feelings hurt and he’s a hothead. He hits back; harder.

The media hates it when he tweets. Why? Because he gets information out, they don’t want to report.

Let me tell you what else:
He is a guy that demands performance. If you don’t work as hard as he does; you’re fired!

He is a guy that asks lots of questions.
The questions he asks aren’t cloaked in fancy “political” phrases; they are “why the hell…” questions.

For decades the health industry has thrown away billions of face masks after one use. Trump asks, “why the hell are we throwing them away? Why not sterilize them and use them numerous times?” They called him stupid. What are they doing now? Sterilizing face masks.

He’s the guy that gets hospital ships readied in one week when it would have taken bureaucrats weeks or months to get it done.
He’s the guy that gets temporary hospitals built in three days. They said no way he could do it.

He’s the guy that gets auto industries to restructure to build ventilators in a business that’s highly regulated by agencies that move like sloths.

He’s the guy that asks “why aren’t we using drugs that might work on people that are dying; what the hell do we have to lose?”

He’s the guy that restricted travel from China when the Democrats and liberal media were screaming “xenophobia” and “racist.” Now they’re wanting to know why didn’t he react sooner?

He’s the guy that campaigned on securing the border – protecting America – in the face of screaming Democrats and the liberal media. (Both Clinton and Obama talked about a crisis at the border and Obama did some things to address the crisis, but they proved insufficient.) When Trump shut down borders in the midst of the coronavirus virus, they screamed louder. Then the rest of the world followed suit, including the European Union with travel between their member countries.

His policy is always ‘America First.’ For many years we have complained about sending billions abroad, while Americans suffer here. He’s minimized that outflow of money.

    Has he made mistakes? Yes.
Everyone I know has and does.
The “experts” wouldn’t and haven’t done any better.

Does he change his mind? Yes, who doesn’t?

Trump is working harder than I’ve ever seen a President work. Twenty-four-hour days. He isn’t hiding in his office; he’s out front – Briefing – every day.

When he offers hope, they say he’s lying and when he’s straight forward, they say he should be hopeful. It’s a no-win situation, with the MSM, but he will not be deterred.

I’ll take this kind of leadership six days a week and twice on Sunday over a “polished, nice guy” politician who reads prepared speeches from a teleprompter and answers pre-scripted questions.
I feel strongly That we all need to push back on this George Floyd thing going on and not buy into the lies about us which so many whites are acquiescing to so happily and so stupidly;.

We Are Not Systemic Racists and Never Were
We Are Not Evil Because We’re White
We Are People Who’ve Worked Hard in Our Lives to Get What We Have.
We Have Always Been Happy to Share the Privilege of Being American, Not White.
We Are Tired of Black America Causing Most of the Crime
We Want to Support Black America Which Wouldn’t Commit a Crime Ever.
We Will Not Be Told to ‘Shut up and Sit down and Take Our Insults’
We Believe in Our Country, We Honor Our Flag, and We Will Not Bow Down NO matter what these Football players say.
Donald J. Trump is my President.

    • Hi. Yeah, I’m a New Yorker and please don’t equate the lack of self control, lack of eloquence, “rudeness and crudeness”, and downright toddler behavior a “New Yorker” thing. It’s not. That’s just a Trump thing.

Before I get chastised for not uplifting him onto the pedestal of Republican sainthood like the rest of the mob, I’m a Republican and will always vote Republican. I can support my ideals and party without having to laud a puppet as the poster child for my party.

  4. I am sorry to do this. I couldn’t figure out how to edit a previous post. The correct twitter ID for Zuby is @ZubyMusic. I typo’ed it in the previous post. He is a fascinating guy. He was born in England. Raised mostly in Saudi Arabia. Graduated from the University of Oxford. I first came across him when he smashed the World Women’s deadlift record while identifying as a woman. 🙂 I have been following him on Twitter ever since and have really enjoyed it. His rap music is entertaining and completely devoid of obscenity, denigration of women, or ugly racial epithets. He is a bodybuilder, personal coach, speaker, and author. A really good guy and worthy of our attention. Thanks for indulging me and sorry about the error/fix.

The most infuriating word that people hurl around incessantly is RACIST. There doesn’t need to be a basis for it. You can’t defend yourself. No, I am not, is not a defense. All dialogue ends leaving only resentment and pain.

  5. Who has condoned riots? I keep hearing from conservatives that people are condoning riots, but aside from the people actually rioting I don’t see that happening. I see lots of people who are more concerned about the crimes that police officers are committing than they are about looters and rioters.

The police officers committing crimes at least had sense enough to cover their badge numbers and faces. The rioters and looters are out with their faces showing burning and stealing and then posting video to Instagram. Those criminals will go to prison. The criminals with badges will get away with their crimes.

  6. You bring up some excellent points. I completely agree with you that all sides of this or any controversial issue should be heard and that people should look at the facts over
ideology. All too often conservatives, libertarians and others who don’t follow the main stream leftist line find their views ignored. You recommend some stellar names and
sources as well. I have long been a great fan of Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams. Their books and columns have influenced the way that I approach questions and
have changed my views on several issues.

The point that you made in one of your comments about the left’s condoning the riots being even scarier than the violence of the riots itself is important as well. To condone the riots
is to condone a breakdown of law and order. Although the left might feel that the cause justifies it, Robespierre and others have found that mob rule can rebound on them to their
detriment. As Sir Thomas More in “A Man for all Seasons” pointed out, if you cut down every law in the nation in pursuit of the devil, you will have no refuge when the devil turns on you.

We have seen the results of such riots and looting in the past. Communities take decades to recover and might never be the same as many businesses never return, making life for
the residents more difficult. If Antifa succeeds in it’s goal and the riots continue, the nation could become dangerously balkanized. Hopefully, enough of the electorate will decide
that the riots are unacceptable and discourage Antifa going forward.

In my comments to past posts, I have complained about Antifa and the left’s encouragement of their lawlessness. I think that what we are seeing now is partly the result of
    those policies.

  7. I have got to stay off of social media for the next while. Just for my own sanity. And all I really do it go on my personal Facebook page!

It blows me away. Just a short while ago, people were piling on the anti-lockdown protesters. Calling them violent, because they carried guns (at least in the US, where they were obeying local laws), not because any actual violence happened. Calling them the most vile, hateful things, because they apparently were going to spread the virus and kill grandma. Wishing horrible, painful deaths on them. Threatening violence against them. And more. It was all about this super-duper-deadly virus what will jump and and kill you if you stepped outside your door, or walked within 5’11” of someone. The hate was vitriolic.

Now we have these violent rioters – I’m loathe to call them protesters! – and those same people are defending them. Defending the violence. Even here in Canada. Why are Canadians protesting something that happened in the US? Then we have our idiot PM and a Somalian born minister, using it to insult all Canadians (and by that, they mean white people) by saying we’re all racists.

I don’t know how many times I’ve had to explain to people about the murder charges. The coroner’s report identified underlying conditions that contributed to Floyd’s death, which lead to charges of murder in the 3rd degree. They saw this as trying to excuse the officer for killing him. I even saw people making out that it was blaming Floyd for his own death. Of course, in their minds, the cop should just be assumed guilty of first degree murder. Who needs a trial? What they don’t get is that police/prosecutors will lay charges they know will stick. Especially for something as volatile as this. If they tried to lay 1st degree murder charges, any defense lawyer worth his salt could get it thrown out, based on those underlying conditions, among other things. But a 3rd degree murder charge will stick, and is most likely to lead to a conviction.

The reality is, the rioters don’t give a rip about Floyd. They are just taking advantage of a tragedy to further their own goals – or just as an excuse to run wild. This is history repeating itself, over and over.

Sane people recognize this, support legitimate protest (even if they disagree with them), but condemn the rioters, looters and murders.

Apparently, there aren’t a lot of sane people left on the Left. No wonder #walkaway is gaining so much steam. The Leftists are driving away genuine liberals.
